SIGINIFICANCE OF ARM BASED MICROCONTROLLER


ARM MICROCONTROLLER:

The ARM (Advanced Reduced Instructions set computer ) Microcontroller has a 32-bit RISC. In 1987, Acrons computer’s organization established ARM Microcontroller. The different manufactures such as ST microelectronics, Motorola, etc, developed the ARM Microcontroller. It is also known as Brain of an Embedded System. ARM Processor:

Bus width: ARM has 32-bit and also available in 64-bit whereas 8051 Microcontroller is 8-bit for standard core.

Speed: For ARM, 1 clock per Instruction cycle but 8051 Microcontroller was 12 clocks/ instruction cycle.

Instruction Set Architecture: 8051 is CISC whereas ARM is RISC Architecture.

ARM vs PIC:

Bus width: ARM has 32-bit and also available in 64-bit whereas PIC Microcontroller is 8/16/32-bit for standard core.

Speed: For ARM, 1 clock per Instruction cycle but PIC Microcontroller was 4 clocks/ instruction cycle.

Instruction Set Architecture: PIC is some feature of RISC whereas ARM is RISC Architecture.

ARM vs AVR:

Bus width: ARM has 32-bit and also available in 64-bit whereas AVR Microcontroller is 8/32-bit for standard core.

Speed: For ARM, 1 clock per Instruction cycle but AVR Microcontroller was 1 clocks/ instruction cycle.

Other feature: AVR is cheap expensive whereas ARM is vast.
